REAL-MOMS SERIES: JEN
Meet Jen, successful entrepreneur and soon-to-be mom!
When are you due?
Do you have a name picked out?
Charlotte, in honor of my late father Charlie.
What is your occupation?
I’m the founder of Tot Squad, a baby gear services company offering car seat & stroller cleaning, repairs, and safety, with the vision to become the “Geek Squad” of the baby industry.
What’s something you really love about being pregnant?
The ability to eat ice cream every day without guilt!
What’s the coolest thing you’ve accomplished while being pregnant?
I raised a round of funding from investors!
What was a challenge you faced with running your own company while pregnant?
In the first trimester, I felt exhausted all of the time. Just getting in to work at 9am I felt like I already needed a nap!
What are/were you most nervous about with motherhood?
Breastfeeding and whether it will work, and how my baby will be (will she be chill enough to bring to work?)
Have you had any cravings?
Grilled cheese! (I even had my husband drive an hour round trip to get me one from Clementine in Beverly Hills)
Have your hobbies or favorite pastime changed while pregnant?
I’ve added a fitness routine twice week with Fit4Baby (the prenatal classes from Fit4Mom) and I love it!
What maternity pieces could you not live without?
My Belly Bandit! It helps with back support and I love supporting another local female owned business.
How has your style changed while being pregnant?
Since I didn’t have many things that fit and were comfortable I found myself having to wear the same things over and over. That’s why BellaNove makes so much sense!
How are you planning on balancing work and motherhood?
Fortunately Tot Squad has a baby-friendly workplace that I’ve built into my company’s culture. For example, one of my employees brought her baby to work from 6 weeks all the way to 9 months old. We love babies here!
What will you miss most about being pregnant?
Oh definitely foot massages from my sweet husband every night.
Something interesting about you that people wouldn’t normally know?
I’m obsessed with s’mores and anything s’mores flavored (so much so the other night I asked my husband to burn marshmallows on the stove and it set off the fire alarm!)
